ChinaNOW-The Logo

Presented in front of your eyes is the official logo of the Melton Foundations' 19th Annual Symposium in Hangzhou, China, held by the Zhejiang University.

It is shaped like a cobble stone with the top half representing red ink paste and the bottom half black marble - both are used in China to record important moments - and they are now witnessing the Symposium of this year. The two colors forming the background, red and black, are the dominant colors of Han and Qin Dynasty respectively, which played most significant roles in the history of China.

Three modern buildings in China form the skyline, from left to right they are the China Pavilion in the Shanghai Expo, World Center of West Lake Culture Square in Hangzhou and the National Center for the Performing Arts in Beijing. They represent the present of China's development and use their grand gesture to welcome friends from around the globe.

Down in the "water" are reflections of Chinese ancient architecture, temples, pagodas and stone bridges. They not only represent the traditional Chinese culture but also remind us that everything we see in China nowadays, is related with memories and histories of the past.

In the right-bottom corner, four Chinese characters are carved on the marble in traditional Chinese calligraphy. “中国现在” - China Now, it's the theme of this year's Symposium and we are going to explore every aspects of China through this precious opportunity.
